Free Labour Report

Recognizing we’ve all fallen into the trap of providing exuberance amounts of free/unpaid labour as racialized, feminized people, it is important to document our labour spent that goes unnoticed.

As first generation, immigrant daughters, we lack access to institutional knowledge and social capital. These are some of our major barriers to acquiring funding.

In our free labour report, we document the time spent on relationship and narrative building, strategic planning, and most recently community care. To date we’ve accumulated over 1,385.5 hours hours of free labour. This translates to a total value of $27,710.00 of unpaid labour without direct remuneration. This figure is based on the Industry Standard Rate in the Canadian Nonprofit Sector. This does not include the labour we could not account for before thinking of this report or expanding what we classify as labour.
